Billy Fury

billy fury

One of the lost legends of British pop...

Billy Fury died on 28th January 1983. He was just 42.

He started singing in the late 1950s...and in his 60s prime, only Elvis, Cliff and The Beatles had more Top Twenty hits.

Born Ronald Wycherley in Liverpool in April 1940, Billy was a childhood victim of rheumatic fever which led to the heart problems which eventually killed him.

Despite several attempted comebacks, Billy never regained the fame and recognition he enjoyed in the early 60s. But peers like Sir Paul McCartney and Cliff Richard have acknowledged the influence Billy had on them and others.
