Abba reunion

The legendary Swedish four-piece have written their first songs together since they split in 1982.

One of the best-loved pop acts of all time, ABBA, have announced they they've recorded two new songs.

In a statement signed by all four members of the group, they said: "The decision to go ahead with the exciting ABBA avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence.

"We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did.

"And it was like time had stood still and that we had only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyous experience."

The announcement comes after the band confirmed plans for an 'Abbatars' tour in 2019 or 2020, a virtual ABBA experience in which digital projections will show them as they looked back in 1979, thanks to special hi-tech imaging equipment.

"We thought we looked good that year," Bjorn Ulvaeus said. "You'll hear the voices of ABBA coming out of the mouths of the Abbatars.

"You won't be able to see that they're not human beings. It'll be spooky, I assure you, but great fun and no one has done it before."
