Despite saying the guitarists legacy is 'alive and well', Mick said Lindsey would not perform with Fleetwood Mac again.

Fleetwood Mac guitarist Mick Fleetwood has said Lindsey Buckingham will never play with the band again.

Speaking to Rolling Stone in a recent interview, Mick quashed any chance of a reunion between the guitarist and the band.

"No. Fleetwood Mac is a strange creature. We’re very, very committed to Neil [Finn] and Mike [Campbell], and that passed away a time ago, when Lindsey left," he confirmed.

"And it’s not a point of conversation, so I have to say no. It’s a full drama of Fleetwood Mac, no doubt."

It was back in 2018 when Buckingham left the band ahead of their upcoming tour, and Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers and Neil Finn of Crowded House stepped in to replace him.

"His legacy is alive and well, and as it should be. A major, major part that will never be taken away, and never be down-spoken by any of us," Mick continued.

"Neil and Mike have tremendous respect for Lindsey."

“The situation was no secret. We were not happy. It was not working, and we parted company. And that really is the all of it.”

Buckingham first joined the band in 1974 – at the same time as lead vocalist Stevie Nicks – going on to write and sing some of the band’s biggest hits.

He left the group in 1987, just before the band hit the road for their Tango in the Night tour – but re-joined in 1996 in time for The Dance reunion tour.
