This Tuesday (December 8) marked the 40th anniversary of when John Lennon was tragically killed in 1980.

To remember the Beatles legend and look back at his brilliant music career, Gold broadcast a fantastic exclusive interview with the great man.

A Gold Meets Special: John Lennon is a revealing interview with the late singer, who would have turned 80 this year.

The programmed aired on Sunday, December 6 at 12-1pm, and was repeated on Tuesday 8 at 7-8pm. It is now available on catchup for 30 days via Global Player.

In the February of ‘75, Lennon had released his Rock ‘n’ Roll album, and he invited a single member of the Capital Radio team to New York to talk about it.

The interview took place inside John Lennon’s Manhattan apartment at The Dakota Building.

In the interview, Lennon discussed his life in New York, the craziness of working with Phil Spector on his latest album, reuniting with Yoko Ono after his 'Lost Weekend', how he was getting on with the rest of the Beatles, and much more.
