Timothée Chalamet is in talks to play singer Bob Dylan in an upcoming biopic, according to new reports.

The movie about the musician’s early life in music will be directed by 'Le Mans '66' filmmaker James Mangold and produced by Searchlight Pictures.

With a working title of Going Electric, Deadline has reported that Timothée is the frontrunner to play Bob Dylan.

A synopsis for the film reveals it will depict Bob’s controversial 1965 decision to embrace the electric guitar.

It will also focus on the period when Bob "was poised to become folk music’s most seminal figure".

According to the publication, Timothée is learning guitar ahead of filming to "familiarise himself with the acoustic and electric guitar".

Bob, 78, has also given his blessing to the project, according to the news outlet, and is "working actively with Searchlight and Mangold on the film".

A release date has not yet been announced, but Bob's manager Jeff Rosen has confirmed he is working on the film as a producer.
