Elton John postpones UK dates of his farewell tour after suffering a fall

It's the second time the Farewell Yellow Brick Road dates have been pushed back.

Elton John has announced that the 2021 UK and European tour dates of his final tour have been postponed.

After suffering a fall, Elton has pushed back the shows to 2023. His recently announced 2022 UK shows are not affected.

It's the second time the original dates have been rescheduled, after the tour was previously put on hold as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am forced to reschedule the 2021 dates of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Europe and the UK to 2023," Elton said.

"At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since.

"Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving."

He added: "I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications.

"I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain."

Elton continued: "I know how patient my incredible fans have been since Covid halted touring last year, and it breaks my heart to keep you waiting any longer.

"I completely feel your frustrations after the year we’ve had. I promise you this - the shows will return to the road next year and I will make sure they are more than worth the wait."

He added that he still intends to play a short five-song performance at the Global Citizen event on September 25, before having an operation with the hope of getting back on the road to resume his tour in January 2022 in New Orleans.

Elton recently announced a massive show at Hyde Park on June 24, 2022 which will be his final ever London show.
